I grew up with a German Shepherd. His name was Zack and he was without a doubt the most loyal and intelligent best friend I could’ve asked for. He was a retired K-9 unit dog, and I cared for him just like he cared for me. Little did I know, I was learning lessons I’d use my entire life.
I was asked to dog sit for the first time in high school, and that ended up being a job I held onto for many years. I would watch two dogs and two cats while two friends of mine were out of town. I would consider myself a dog person, but their cat Winter would literally never leave my side. The family actually ended up asking me to adopt Winter after a couple years. I dog sat and cat sat for them on and off for about five years. Since then I’ve been dog sitting as favors for friends and family in my spare time.
Animals are an important part of family and a home. I love each and every dog I walk and visit every day. With that being said, I hope the dogs I see are as happy to see me as I am to see them! 🙂
